The environmental group Mouvement Ecologique is asking cyclists for feedback about dangerous spots or lack of safe infrastructure.
After a similar call last year, the activists received more than 300 complaints and forwarded the information to municipalities and the Ministry of Transport to point out dangerous spots for cyclists.
“The national cycle paths are not always suitable for cycling. Some routes are simply missing, and many existing cycle routes have serious weaknesses in terms of cyclist safety,” the group said.
It has now taken the initiative online and created a digital map on which users can enter broken or missing cycle paths, potholes and damaged pavements, missing road signs or dangerous intersections. Users can submit photos or videos of the spots in question along with their suggestions for improvement.
The map, which is available in English, French and German, will be online until 31 October and the information collected will again be forwarded to the authorities responsible for Luxembourg’s roads. In mid-November, the map will also be made available to the public.
